SOP for Entry and Exit from Microbiology section

OBJECTIVE :

To provide a Procedure for Entry into and Exit from Microbiology section.

SCOPE :

This procedure is applicable for entry and exit for Microbiology section, situated in 

ABC at XYZ.

PROCEDURE :

5.1
ENTRY INTO THE MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY :


5.1.1
Only authorized person to enter the microbiology section.  All other personnel take 



prior approval from QC Head before entering the microbiology section.


5.1.2
Do not allow the persons suffering from cold, cough and other infections


5.1.3
Use elbows, instead of hands for opening the doors in the Micro-section.


5.1.4
Leaning against the walls, doors and windows are strictly prohibited.


5.1.5
Wearing jewelry, wristwatch and use of cosmetics is prohibited.


5.1.6
Use pass boxes for transfer of required materials or other aids.


5.1.7
Disinfect cuts, bruises, pricks etc, if any, immediately using 70% Isopropyl alcohol.

5.2
ENTRY INTO THE MICROBIOLOGY TESTING ROOM :


5.2.1
Enter the airlock, remove the general laboratory footwear and keep in the rack



provided.


5.2.2
Open the door with elbow and enter the microbiology testing room.


5.2.3
Disinfect the hands using 70% IPA.


5.2.4
Wear the over gown in Air lock II.


5.2.5
Disinfect the hands at the working place using 70% IPA.

5.3
 EXIT FROM THE MICROBIOLOGICAL TESTING ROOM :


5.3.1
Clean the working bench with 70 % IPA after work is over.


5.3.2
Collect the waste in the tray and transfer in the washing room.


5.3.3
Come out of the microbiological testing room.


5.3.4
Remove the hand gloves, nose mask, over gown, footwear in the rack.


5.3.5
Disinfect hands using 70% IPA.


5.3.6
Wear the general laboratory footwear and come out of the Air lock.
