Albendazole Tablets Assay (By UV method)
Standard
Preparation
Take 100 mg of Albendazole WS in 100 ml volumetric flask, add 50 ml of 0.1 M Methanolic HCl, sonicate to dissolve Albendazole completely and dilute to 100 ml with 0.1 M Methanolic HCl.
Take 1.0 ml of above solution in 100 ml volumetric flask and dilute to 100 ml with 0.1 M NaOH (10 mcg / ml).
Sample Preparation
Weight and powder 5 tablet. Weigh and transfer tablet powder equivalent to 100 mg of Albendazole in 100 ml volumetric flask, add 50 ml of 0.1 M Methanolic HCl, sonicate for 30 min. to dissolve Albendazole completely and dilute to 100 ml with 0.1 M Methanolic HCl. Shake and filter through ordinary filter paper. Dilute 1.0 ml of the filtrate with 0.1 M NaOH to 100 ml to get final concentration 10 mcg/ml.
Measure the absorbance of standard and sample dilution at the maxima at 309 nm using 0.1 M NaOH as blank.
Calculate
the content of Albendazole by
comparison of sample and standard.
