Chlorphenamine maleate Capsule (Pellets form) | Finished Product | Test Procedure | Method of analysis (MOA) |

Reagents :

1. 4 % aniline (4 ml Aniline in 100 ml of methanol )

2. Cyanogen bromide reagent: 10% Cyanogen Bromide Reagent.

Standard Solution: Take 100 mg of chlorphenamine Maleate WS in 100 ml of volumetric flask, dissolved and make the volume 100 ml with water. Take 2 ml of above solution in 50 ml of volumetric flask and dilute to 50 ml with water.

Sample Solution: Weigh the 20 Capsules. Take the powder equivalent to 4 mg of chlorphenamine Mateate in100ml volumetric flask dissolved 50 ml with water shake with 15 minutes and make the volume 100 ml with water. Filter. Take filtrate as sample solution.

Procedure: Take 5 ml of standard solution and 5 ml of Sample solution & 5 ml water for blank in three different test tubes, add 2 ml of 4% aniline in methanol and 3 ml of cyanogen bromide reagent.

Take reading on suitable spectrophotometer at 450 nm.

Calculation :
Spl rdg x Wt of std x 2 x 100 x Avg wt x Std purity (as is) x 100
Std rdg  x 100 x 50 x Wt of Spl x 100 x L. A.

Caution: (Cyanogen Bromide) Danger! Lachrymator (substance which increases the flow of tears). May cause cardiac disturbances. May cause pulmonary edema.  May cause cyanosis (bluish discoloration of skin due to deficient oxygenation of the blood). Causes burns by all exposure routes.
